It’s our favorite time of year again! No, not the drizzle-fest that passes for a British summer—the time when we get to meet the fantastic winners of the Digital Revolution Awards and find out how they’re making a positive impact on our world through the power of technology.
In this Meet the Winners blog, we’re getting to know the winner of the Outstanding Contribution to the Google Cloud Community award, Teresa Wu.
The Outstanding Contribution to the Google Cloud Community award recognizes exceptional individuals who have made an extraordinary impact on the ecosystem.
Our judges are always looking for someone who has inspired, empowered, and elevated others within the Google Cloud community.
This year, we’re thrilled to add Teresa Wu to the Digital Revolution Awards’ Hall of Fame.
Teresa Wu’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, passion, and a commitment to lifting others up. Originally hailing from China, Teresa’s journey into the world of technology began in London. Starting as a business analyst, her curiosity led her to a life-changing opportunity: taking on a junior software engineering role.
This chance ignited her passion for Google technology, and she hasn’t looked back since. Today, she is VP of Software Engineering at J.P. Morgan, as well as a Google Developer Expert and an ambassador for Google’s Women Techmakers Program.
Fueled by an insatiable desire to learn, Teresa carved a successful path in IT, becoming the first in her family to achieve such a feat. Throughout her career, Teresa has dived into both front-end development and cloud technology, delighting in exploring the possibilities of multi-platform development and continuous delivery, and being driven by the satisfaction of seeing a product evolve from conception to launch.
On this journey, Teresa has collaborated with countless talented developers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration that has resulted in a multitude of impressive projects.
Teresa’s exceptional talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Recognised as a Google Developer Expert (GDE), she’s joined a prestigious network of industry leaders. This distinction signifies not just her technical expertise, but also her dedication to fostering a thriving Google Developer community. Teresa has become a beacon of knowledge and inspiration, actively sharing best practices, connecting with and mentoring others, and promoting continuous learning for Google development enthusiasts at every level.
And it’s not just technical best practices that she’s vocal about. An impactful advocate for diversity and equal opportunity, Teresa is a member of Google’s Women Techmakers initiative, a program dedicated to empowering women in the tech industry. From organizing events and speaking engagements such as the Women of Silicon Roundabout conference, to mentoring fellow women and creating valuable content, Teresa actively contributes to the cause of boosting women’s representation in the tech space. Her continued work on this front has made her an outstanding role model—one who is equipping diverse professionals with the knowledge and skills to navigate the world of Google Cloud with confidence.
Teresa didn’t just forge a fulfilling career path for herself; she actively fosters a community where others can excel too. For her dedication to sharing knowledge, her passion for equal opportunity, and her unwavering commitment to building a vibrant Google Cloud community, Teresa is a true digital revolutionary.
“I’m very excited, and thank you very much for the opportunity,” said Teresa. “This has really encouraged me to go even further in the community and also in the tech industry, to bring more people together to learn and know what we’re doing.
“It’s a big community, and it’s not just me; it’s so many people who work together. I’m very proud of myself for being here. Thank you to everyone who supported me the whole journey. I’m sure they will be very happy for me, and we’re going to celebrate together.”
