Meet the judges—Ben McCarthy

In our Meet the judges series, we’ll be chatting to some of the cloud tech experts on our judging panel to find out more about their experience, their passion for cloud tech, and what they’re making a beeline for at the awards ceremony buffet…

Ben McCarthy is the founder of SalesforceBen.com, the largest Salesforce news site in the world.

He has 10 years of experience in the Salesforce ecosystem working across end-users, ISVs, and System Integrators.

We caught up with Ben to find out a little more about our judge.

Which category are you most looking forward to judging and why?

Outstanding contribution to the Salesforce Ecosystem, of course! I always love seeing the innovative ways that people choose to give back to an ecosystem that has helped so many people through their careers.

How has cloud technology made an impact on your life, or within your business?

Having been someone who was never very academic and was always a lot more practical, cloud technology has really given me a chance to shine in the world, and take advantage of my strengths.

Are there any events or performances from the cloud tech space that have wowed you in the past year?

I was lucky enough to attend the socially-distanced Salesforce Live a couple of months back. This was the first in-person event I attended since the pandemic, and it felt a bit special because of this.

What makes a great nomination?

I really enjoy out-of-the-box ideas and people that are bucking the trend.

How important are awards in promoting diversity and inclusion, especially in sectors like tech?

I think they’re a fantastic way to highlight the leaders promoting diversity and inclusion, and to inspire others to do the same.

You're at an awards ceremony; what food are you making a beeline to the buffet table for?

"I'm heading straight for the cured meats and cheese platter! "

If you were to win an award yourself, perhaps for a secret talent, what would it most likely be?

I’m a bit of a bedroom DJ, and although I doubt I’ll win an award anytime soon, I can always hope!
