Meet the Winners – Circulor

The trophies have been given out, toasts have been made and the canapés have been eaten. After four fantastic global events recognizing the work of organizations and individuals across the cloud industry, the Digital Revolution Awards 2023 season has come to a close.

Throughout the Digital Revolution Awards 2023 events, we saw many outstanding winners take the stage, receiving a round of applause for making a positive impact on our world through the use of cloud technology.

Now it’s time to shine a spotlight on some of those worthy victors and showcase the fantastic work that made them winners in the Digital Revolution Awards.

In this Meet the Winners blog, we’re getting to know the winner of our Outstanding Contribution to the Earth award, Circulor.

This year we added this brand new award, which joins our Tech for Good gong in the sustainability category. Our Outstanding Contribution to the Earth award celebrates both the individuals and businesses that are disrupting the status quo and leveraging cloud technology to help tackle one of the biggest challenges facing humanity today: the climate emergency.

In the search for our very first winners, we were looking for examples of ground-breaking products or services focused on tackling global heating. We received many fantastic nominations outlining the essential work being done on the climate front by organizations from every corner of the cloud space.

Our winner, however, took the prize for their proactive and innovative approach to reducing carbon emissions. This company’s work focuses on reducing the impact of industrial supply chains on our planet using the power of blockchain. By helping organizations gain better visibility of their supply chains, they’re facilitating more responsible sourcing, cutting emissions, and enabling a faster journey to net zero.

Meet Circulor.

Providing the most complete and mature supply chain traceability solution, with a focus on battery minerals to combat the role of industrial supply chains in climate change, their blockchain technology empowers organizations to do better for our world by increasing visibility into their impact. This visibility gives businesses a starting point from which to demonstrate more responsible sourcing, improve ESG performance, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and better manage supply chain risks.

Founded in 2018, the firm has since collaborated with countless partners and clients to understand the importance of supply chain transparency in our battle to achieve net zero. In that time, it has forged practical strategies for tracking the due diligence of raw materials and recycled content, growing its team to 76 passionate employees in the process.

Today, this team uses their extensive, industry-leading expertise to further the company’s mission: to make the most complex supply chains more transparent and prevent the exploitation of our planet and its people.

The Circulor team works alongside its clients to define ESG KPIs and uses its traceability data to allow businesses to measure and compare the sustainability credentials of their suppliers. This transparency and accountability for climate impact is helping drive improvements across the supply chain.

To achieve its vital objective, Circulor leverages the power of cloud solutions and blockchain. The company’s enterprise software solutions creates a reliable chain of custody of materials and attaches GHG emissions and other ESG data directly to the flow of materials to equips customers with insightful data and intuitive interfaces to drive decision making. Ensuring inclusivity and a lower barrier to entry for upstream users, it also provides a user-friendly mobile app.

Today, Circulor delivers the only proven technology solution able to track high-risk and high human-impact materials used in manufacturing and recycling supply chains. They have the largest battery traceability network on the market with over 125 customer facilities connected and supporting the circular economy, including industry leaders like Tesla, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Volkswagen, and Jaguar Land Rover.

Our judges were impressed by the proactive nature of their work and its dedication to stopping damaging emissions before they’re created.

“The work Circulor is doing is definitely needed,” one judge said. “And they’re working with some really big companies as well.”

“Do we want a world where we’re building efficiency gains and removing carbon at the get-go, or do we want to believe in solutions that will clean up the mess after it’s been done?” asked another. “Circulor is looking to prevent greenhouse gases and reduce them.”

We spoke to Magda Rychleqwska, Circulor’s Chief of Staff and VP of Partnerships, to find out how she felt about the company’s win.

“I’m very chuffed,” Magda said. “We totally did not expect this but equally really appreciate it; we certainly do contribute to the good of the Earth!

“Making sure that we create ethical value chains, and that we send back the value that we pay for products all the way back to create wealthier and safer communities is really important to us.

“This award is essentially what it means: highlight the work, highlight the outcomes, and invite others to do more of the same. It’s a good promotion for the work that we’re doing, especially for new and young entrepreneurs.”
